The response of Lima bean (Phaseolus lunatus) to inoculation with three strains of rhizobium
1988
Akyeampong, A.S.
The response of Lima beans (Phaseolus lunatus to inoculation with three strains of rhizobium (TAL 22, TAL 169 and TAL 644) was studied in potted soil. The plants in association with the individual rhizobium strains, exhibited significant differences in plant height, dry matter of shoot, nitrogen yield, % nitrogen, number of nodules, dry weight of nodules, number of pods per plant, and seed yield per plant indicating that nitrogen was a major factor limiting growth. Nodulation, growth and yield of Lima bean cultivars could be improved by the selection and use of highly effective strains of rhizobium
