Major diseases of cowpea at Mon Repos, East Coast, Demerara : variety Minica I

Sets out to define the spectrum of diseases found on cowpeas grown on the coastal belt of Guyana. 20 sample units of 50 plants each were selected at random and monitored weekly for disease incidence and severity. A herbicide was used for weed control. No insecticide was used. 2 fungal diseases, Macrophomina phaseolina and Erysiphe polygoni were the most dominant. 3 other diseases including Sclerotium rolfsii were identified
