One of the problems of growing potato is brown leaf necrosis. Potassium deficiency, insect phytotoxicity and fungal damage were considered as causal factors. In 1982 in a Cosima potato field in Shahar Kord, in an experiment according to a split plot design the effects of Temik as 10% granules at two rates of zero and 3.0 kg ai/hec., in main plots and potassium sulfate as 45% powder at rates of zero and 200.0 kg/hec., in sub plots were investigated. In 1983 only Temik as 10% granules was applied in three rates of 0.0, 3.0 and 5.0 kg ai/hec., in randomized block design. In these experiments measurements of the intensity of leaf necrosis, pest densities and yield were taken. In field experiments, only application of Temik, resulted in remission of leaf necrosis symptoms, decrease in leafhopper population and increase in yield. In laboratory experiments, Empoasca decipiens damage appeared as white spots, followed by necrotic lesions at feeding sites, leaf edge burning and rolling and finally whole leaf drying
