The adverse acute and chronic effects of pesticide residues on aquatic fauna, birds, livestock and humans is of immediate concern to Jamaica. Fish and shrimps are extremely susceptible to endosulphur, which is used extensively in coffee plantations and which inhibits their respiratory, metabolic and reproductive physiology, resulting in thin egg shells, and mortality among the chicks
