To evaluate the spraying effects of agricultural chemicals according to the plant type and leaf area of rice plant, relative light intensity, falling status of chemicals sprayed into plants and effect of insect control etc., the present investigation was carried out with the drooping type rice variety "Palgongbyeo" and erect type rice variety "singwangbyeo" at young panicle formation and heading stages. Light intensity in "Palgongbyeo" rice variety with drooping leaves was lower than in "Singwangbyeo" variety with erect leaves, although the leaf area index (LAI) in the former was lower than the latter. The present recommended amount (150l/10a) of chemical solution could not fall down to the leaf sheath of 10cm and to 5cm above ground in the case of "Palgongbyeo" variety with LAI 8.5. However in the case of "Singwangbyeo" variety with LAI 10.5 it could be reached. The number of brown plant hopper, small brown-plant hopper, and leafhopper insects inhabitated in "Palgongbyeo" was more than in "Singwangbyeo" variety. A significant difference in insect control was observed between the recommended amount and double quantities of that in the fields of overgrown rice plant
