This studies were carried out to investigate the effects of nitrogen fertilizer amount and methods of its application on growth, shattering rate and yield in pearl barley. The plant height, number of leaves and tillers were increased by increasing of nitrogen fertilizer and top dressing times. The shattering rate was decreased by increasing of top dressing times and yield was highest at 15kg/10a application of nitrogen fertilizer and three times top dressing. Leaf area index (LAI), crop growth rate (CGR), relative growth rate (RGR) and dry weight of plant increased with 15kg/10a of nitrogen fertilizer. Nitrogen content of plant was increased by increasing of nitrogen fertilizer and top dressing times at tillering stage
