A survey of bovine anaplasmosis in Shika and environs [Nigeria]

A total of 1181 serum samples were tested for antibodies against Anaplasma marginale by rapid card agglutination test. Analysis of the results showed that 528 (44.7%) of the samples were positive and that the number of positive samples was significantly higher in all the other test areas than on the National Animal Production Research Inst. (NAPRI) farm (P/0.001). Similarly, antibodies were less prevalent in animals below 12 months of age on the NAPRI farm and no breed differences in the number of positive samples were detected
