In perennial weed control, several methods of herbicide application can be employed - foliar, basal and soil. Biological, environmental, and chemical factors interact to influence the efficacy of herbicides in each of these methods. Management incorporating knowledge of these factors can enhance weed control, preclude fertile practices and reduce the cost of weed control. Special problems in grassland system are grass weeds and weed control in mixed grass-legume pastures. Wipe-on applicators offer some promise for selective and economical weed control.
