Effect of silica gel on the growth and crop yielding of oats and barley in a pot experiment

Stawinski, J. | Kasiak, A. | Sokolowska, Z. (Polska Akademia Nauk, Lublin (Poland). Zaklad Agrofizyki)
An addition of silica gel to a cropped sandy soil has reduced leaching of N, P and K. The amount of nutrients retained in the soil was related to the rate of silica gel application but no close relationship was found. Higher silica gel applications have reduced tillering but the yields have been unaffected. Yields of both barley and oats were enhanced by heavier silica gel applications
