Effect of concentrate feeding frequency and sequence on feed intake, milk yield, its fat and protein content and some physiological traits in cows
1987
Wieczorek, Z. (Instytut Zootechniki, Krakow (Poland))
Three experiments on Black-and-White and Red-and-White cows fed on the concentrate 2-6 times a day were carried out. The positive effect of increasing concentrate feeding on milk yield, milk fat content and feed conversion efficiency was observed. The same feeding frequency with the first of concentrate given before morning roughage feeding resulted in improved cow performance. No significant effect of concentrate feeding frequency and sequency on eating time, rumination, chewing and resting time, blood glucose level and fatty acid concentration in the milk fat was observed
