Performance trial of sunflower [in Bangladesh]

Three selected lines of sunflower were tested at the Oilseed Research Centre, Joydebpur, along with check DS-1 (Kironi). Significant differences were found among the lines in respect of plant height, days to flowering and maturity, 1000 seed weight, percentage of oil (dry wt. basis), percentage of sterility and yield. The line S-ee4 produced highest yield (1822 kg/ha) and was statistically identical with the check DS-1, lowest yield (1407 kg/ha) was produced by S-317. The line S-335 was also statistically identical with DS-I and S317 in respect of days to flowering and maturity. Highest percentage of oil (42.24) was produced by S-335 which statistically differed from the others.
