An experiment was conducted with eight sett treating fungicides viz. tecto, tilt, bavistin, aretan-6, agallol MEMC-6, rovral and ditavax-200 to select suitable chemical(s) for sett treatment. Data were taken on germination after 30, 45 and 60 days of plantation. All the chemical treatments showed higher germination over the control but they were not significant. MEMC-6 resulted highest germination percentages by 21.3, 32.5 and 35.6% on 30, 45 and 60 days after plantation respectively. The last germination count on 60th day showed the performance of other fungicides which are serially arranged as tecto (34.9%). Bavistin (34.6%), agallol (33.8%) vitavax-200 (33.5%), aretan-6 (33.1%), tilt (32.3%), rovral (29.8%) and then control (29.8%). No sett rot due fungal infection was found in any of the treated setts except control where Fusarium sp. were found in the non germinated setts.
