Drought flow analysis of the river Ganges using Partial Duration Series [in Bangladesh]
1989
Khan, L.R. (Bangladesh Agricultural Univ.,Mymensingh (Bangladesh). Dept. of Irrigation and Water Management)
For better understanding of the nature and magnitudes of the Ganges droughts a statistically viable investigation was performed with 35 years of streamflow data. Five different probability distributions for low flow analysis were used in this investigation. In order to fit the above mentioned distributions graphically extreme low-flow events were obtained from the historic streamflow data using the approach of partial duration series. The design drought flows for various durations were estimated from the probability plots. The applicability of the distributions in the drought flow analysis was investigated on the basis some standard goodness of fit tests.
