The addition of MgS04 either to the soil or as foliar sprays caused, during both years of study, a pronounced increase in leaf Mg. The leaf content of N, P, Fe, Mn and Zn slightly increased, while the Ca concentration decreased. As for K and their levels in the leaves were not affected by magnesium treatments. The chlorophyll (a or b) content of the leaves increased markedly with MgS04 application, especially in the second season.
