Screening six soyabean (Glycine max) varieties for germination and emergence at three different moisture levels
1980
Acheampong, P.Y.
The effect of three soil moisture levels (450, 500 and 550 cm3) on the germination and emergence of six soybean varieties was determined in the laboratory. The varieties were 307-047D(V1), 340-01D(V2), 573-104C(V3), 573-7C(V4), 722-02E(V5) and 342-35(V6). Germination and emergence were significantly influenced by soil moisture level and varietal difference, with the varieties ranking V6, V2/V3, V5, V1, and V4 for emergence. V6 was the best in terms of germination and emergence. Soil temperature and moisture tension increased with decreasing levels of soil moisture
