Feed value of rice straw was determined using rice straw harvested on three different dates (harvest date I, II, and III). They were subjected to the spraying of O (C), 2 % (T1), 4 % (T2), and 6 % (T3) urea solution on the surface of rice plant 20 days before harvesting. Feed value was determined by proximate analysis. Proximate principles of experimental rice straw showed large variation from the standard values depending upon the variety, date of harvest, and the application of the fertilizer. Crude protein content was not significantly different among the different treatment groups in the harvest date I group of rice straws. In the rice straws of harvest date II, all the treatment groups (T1, T2, and T3) showed significantly higher (p0.05) crude protein content. In the rice straw group of harvest date III, the crude protein content of T1 and T2 was significantly higher (P0.05) than the control group. Significant difference (P0.05) was observed between the control and T1 group in harvest date I and III. T3 showed significant difference (P0.05) among the harvest date III and I and II. Harvest group I was markedly higher. No significant difference was found in the lignin content among all the treatment and harvest group. Early harvest tended to reduce the amount of rice produced
