In vinyl house culture, the influence of covering date and heating on tree growth and fruit quality was investigated using 'Kyoho' grapes. Without heating, vinyl covering at Feb. 28 resulted the best in Naju area, which forced maturity by 29 days as compared to the control. In the culture with heating from Dec. 25, fruit maturity was attained by Jun. 28, 71 days earlier than the control's. Vinyl house culture improved berry setting rate, berry weight, sugar content and fruit quality, and repressed the occurrences of diseases. However, it weakened tree vigour and flowering, especially in repeated heating culture
