New sesame variety "Jinjuggae" was developed from the cross of Suwon 9/Suwon 11//Suwon 9 at Crop Experiment Station in 1988. The plant type of this variety is uniculm and capsule bearing habit with tricapsules per leaf axil and bi-carpellate. Jinjuggae has white seed coat color and higher oil content with higher oleic and linoleic acid composition than those of the leading variety Pungnyeonggae. In agronomic characteristics, flowering date of Jinjuggae is 2 days later and slightly longer plant height with more capsules per plant than those of the leading variety Pungnyeonggae. Grain yield of Jinjuggae was higher by 10 % compared to the leading variety Pungnyeonggae in the second-cropping of the regional adaptation trials performed at 10 locations in 1985-1988. Yield increase of Jinjuggae was reconfirmed at the demonstration yield trials performed on the farmer's field in 1986-1987. Adaptation area of Jinjuggae is second-cropping area throughout the country except the Kangwon and Cheju Province
