Role of growth regulators in the host-parasite relationship between pine seeds (Pinus sylvestris L.) and isolates of Cylindrocarpon destructans (Zins.) Scholt. Pt. 3. Gibberellins

GA3 showed no effect or inhibited the growth of three isolates of Cylindrocarpon destructans of different pathogenicity to pine seedlings. All isolates produced GA-like substances. In the culture filtrates of the strong pathogenic isolate GA4/7 were detected. No correlation between their pathogenicity and susceptibility to GA3 as well as between their ability to produce gibberellin-like substances was found. In the infected pine seeds the level of GA-like substances was lower. The decrease of these substances was stated after 1 h of the contact of the seeds with the isolates and continued to decrease further as the contact progressed to 24 h. In healthy and infected seeds GA4/7 were detected. The changes in GA-like substances in the infected pine seeds did not correlate with different pathogenicity of the isolates
