Four inbred silkworm lines: Aa, AB, Kd and Miz were reared in three experimental groups: D-1 stressed in the present and in the previous generation, D-2 stressed only in the previous generation and K control. The stressing factor it was the lowering of air temperature to 4 degrees C for 24 hours. No influence of the long period of lowered temperature on the hatchability and survival rate of silkworm larvae has been found, however the stressing factor resulted in an increase of cocoon weight and in decrease of silk production
