The course of meiotic divisions in the PMCs of tetraploid (AARR) plants obtained as a result of chromosome doubling of the F1 hybrid Triticum monococcum x Secale cereale has been studied. Studies of diakinesis showed the presence of 34.8 percent of cells, in which conjugation was not complete. At the stage of MI of meiosis the number of such cells ranged from 77.6 to 90 percent. The mean number of univalents per cell was 2.7-4.2. In this respect the studied plants displayed significant separateness in relation to other tetraploid triticale forms with the A/BA/BRR genome. Differential chromosome staining showed that over 85 percent of univalents are constitued by rye chromosomes. Occurrence of lagging chromosomes caused significant disturbances observed also at later division stages. The observed frequency of disturbances was compared to the literature data concerning the course of meiosis in other wheat-rye amphiploids
