This is a study of the effect that reconstruction of the growing shape has on the yield and quality of the Italian Riesling variety of grapes. A two-arm umbrella was the growing shape. By reconstruction of this umbrella and adequate changes of the supporters, several growing shapes were obtained. The following indicators were studied: number of clusters per plant, average weight of cluster, grape yield per plant and hectare, must sugar content and total must acid content. Negative interdependence was discovered between the number of clusters and their weight, as well as between the grape yield and grape sugar content. Weather conditions had a significant effect on the fluctuation of the studied indicators. It was established that the growing shape has a significant effect on bearing capacity, grape yield and grape quality.
