1986

Not one the tested wheat cultivars demonstrated complete resistance to the yellow cereal fly (Opomyza florum), while the tested barley cultivars and lines demonstrated high resistance. Significant differences were found among the tested wheat cultivars. All cultivars, with well-developed ligules and a stronger hold on the plant stem, demonstrated higher resistance than cultivars where this is not so. Barley has well-developed ligules and that is why its cultivars and lines suffered less damage
