Quantitative analysis of yield components in barley in relation to breeding methods
1987
Kovacevic, J.
The investigation included F5 lines of two-rowed winter barley derived from 4 combinations of crosses. The achieved results showed that culm-length, 1000-kernel weight, the number and weight of kernels per spike showed a high degree of heritability and a low variation coefficient. Grain yield increase largely depended on the increase of the number of fertile tillers. There was a strong positive direct effect of the tiller number upon grain yield and considerably weaker phenotypic positive direct as well as a moderate genotypic positive effect of 1000-kernel weight and kernel number per spike upon grain yield.
