A comparison was made between male lambs of the Merino breed and the following crosses: Merino x Tsigai, Romanov x Tsigai and Romanov x Zackel. The average daily live weight gain, feed consumption and conversion, final weight (at the end of fattening) and slaughter results, have all been observed. The greatest difference in the daily average live weight gain was found between the Romanov x Zackel crosses and the Merino breed. These crosses also consumed the greatest amount of nutrients per 1 kg of live weight gain. According to their performance, the best effect was achieved with the Merino lambs, followed by the crosses, Merino x Tsigai, Romanov x Tsigai and Romanov x Zackel. The effect of fattening was the poorest in the Romanov x Tsigai crosses, while the differences between the other groups were not significant.
