Thirty-six different species of helminths have been recorded in wild ruminants from the hunting districts of Slovenia (Yugoslavia). The following species are the most common: Ostertagia circumcincta, Haemonchus contortus, Spiculopteragia spiculoptera and Trichuris ovis. The strongest pathogenic effect on the wild-life in Slovenia has Haemonchus contortus. It can be concluded that most helminths found in wild-life can be transmitted to the sheep and goat. On the other hand, these helminths are also transmitted from domestic small ruminants to wild ones.
