1986
Jurkovic, D. | Dimitrijevic, M. (Poljoprivredni fakultet, Osijek (Yugoslavia))
This is a study on the appearance and intensity of rot development in maize stalks of a great number of hybrids belonging to different maturity groups. It was found that there are statistically significant differences in the intensity of maize stalk rot between certain years, as well as between hybrids belonging to different maturity groups in one year. The disease spread more in younger maturity groups every year. A negative correlation was found between the amount of rainfall during the critical growing stage of maize and disease intensity. Rainfall distribution, compared to the temperature and other factors, has the determining role regarding the intensity of stalk rot.
