Hybridization between cornerstone male sterility mutant, a hexaploid wheat, and five diploid whereas namely, T. monococcum, T. urartu, T. boeoticum T. aegilopoides and T. thaouder showed prominent variation in crossability. In studies of pairing affinities the hybrids exhibited as many as six bivalents in most of the PMCs at metaphase 1. The pairing failure of Cornerstone chromosome 4A and 4B with any of the seven chromosomes of the diploid wheats has confirmed the incomplete homology between hexaploid A genome and diploid wheat chromosomes.
