Quantitative inheritance of yield and yield components in pea
1990
Samad, M.A. (Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh (Bangladesh) Dept. of Agronomy)
A full diallel experiment comprised five parental genotypes (Green shaft, Ichiban, Huka, Maro and Combi), and 20 F(1) progenies. The F(1) of the full diallel indicated that the inheritance of yield, plant(-1), number of peas pod(-1) and 1000 seed weight was governed by both additive and dominance type genetic variation. Additive effects were only significant for number of pods plant(-1). Maternal effects were significant for yield plant(-1) and 1000 seed weight. Epistasis was also detected in these two characters. Dominance was partial in number of peas pod(-1) and 1000 seed weight and yield plant(-1) showed over dominance. Selection for yield per se on an individual basis would not be effective for number of peas pod(-1).
