Runoff harvesting as a technique for improving crop performance by increasing water availability and simultaneously conserving soil in semi-arid areas is currently attracting considerable interest in Kenya. Trials in Baringo and Turkana districts are well established and have promising results. Three trials were instigated in Kitui district to test two systems which had proved successful in Baringo. This paper presents and discusses the results of the three trials and gives recommendations
