The first part of the book consists of a description of the complicated Greenhouse technology and a critical assessment of the possible consequences. The 'consensus scenario' is questioned, in particular the role of carbon dioxide in global warming. It is asserted that energy conservation is a more important issue than global warming and the second part of the book describes New Zealand's unique pattern of energy use and the fuel-technology policies which can ensure the best use of these energy resources to achieve a marked reduction in the rate at which fossil fuels are consumed
