This paper consists of three parts. Part 1 illustrates the yield-increasing effect of green manure and its role in maintaining and increasing soil structure and physical characteristics. Part 2 deals with the place of green manure crops in rice-based cropping systems and four ways of growing green manure crops. Part 3 discusses the effects of crop choice, fertilizer application, and inoculation on green manure production.
