Growth/yield prediction model and rotation age for Keora (Sonneratia apetala Buch.Ham) plantations in Bangladesh
1989
Md Abdul Latif
This study dealt with the development of growth and yield prediction models using the simultaneous equation method. It made use of data from 263 temporary sample units gathered from the Keora plantations in the coastal afforestations in Bangladesh. The method of multistage stratified cluster sampling was used to gather the field data. A yield prediction model was developed for the Keora plantations using reference age of 12 years for the site index of each plot. The model developed was composed of three equations: stand height equation, stand basal area equation, and stand yield equation. The yield model was verified using a separate set of data from 30 validation sample units. The paired t-test, chi-square test, and 45 degree line tests were used for model validation. Economic rotation based on NPV [Net Present Value] single rotation, NPV infinite rotation, forest rent formula, and physical rotation were determined for different site indices.
