Draftability of cattle under different working intensities for dry land cultivation
1987
Lacadin, A.L.
Results indicated no significant variations between the different work intensities in so far as their draft-force, drawbar horsepower, body weight changes and physiological responses in terms of PRT values and eosinophil levels of the blood are concerned. The average drawbar horsepower of the experimental animals were 0.635, 0.519 and 0.515 PS for Treatment 1, 2 and 3, respectively. No significant correlation was noted between drawbar horsepower, draft-force and live weight. PRT values were not directly influenced by atmospheric conditions prevailing during the study. The results suggests that bullocks subjected to different work intensities had similar performance under dry field condition. However, there is a need to provide energy feed to meet their energy requirement for maintenance of body weight and working efficiency during actual plowing.
