Granular and wettable powder formulations of a local Bacillus thuringiensis isolate (B.t. LEP20) with preferential activity against Asiatic corn borer, Ostrinia furnacalis were evaluated under field conditions. The granular formulation applied during the whorling stage of maize, 33 days and 41 days, respectively gave lower average damage rating than the other treatments and control. Similarly, the spraying of the wettable powder during the tasseling stage gave the same effect but only significantly different from the control. Maize stems were observed to have significantly low total borer hole counts after treatment with the local B. thuringiensis formulations. Highest yield was obtained from plants treated with the local B. thuringiensis granular and wettable powder formulations at the whorling and tasseling stages, respectively.
