An experiment on 1 - 90 days old calves progeny of Black-and-White dams and Black-and-White, Jersey, Simmental or Holstein-Friesian sires, born in the autumn-winter or spring-summer seasons was carried out. Two rearing systems: nursed by cow or bucket fed were compared. The significant effect of genotype on plasma Ca and P content in calves was stated. The rearing system did not significantly affect the mineral content, exept for Na which was lower in the blood of bucket fed calves than those nursed by cow. The close relation between the plasma P and Na content in new-born calves with their survival rate was observed
