C-mitotic action of the insecticide Ambush 25 EC in Allium cepa L.
1990
Klein, M. (Agricultural Academy, Krakow (Poland). Chair of Genetics, Plant Breeding and Seed Production)
Ambush 25 EC disturbed functioning of the karyokinetic spindle causing c-mitotic changes in the meristem cells of onion roots. C-mitotic disturbances depended also on the length of root treatment with the studied chemical. At low temperature the metaphase accumulation as well as a decrease in the number of anaphases and telophases were found. As a result of c-mitosis there occurred multinucleate cells and those containing restitution nuclei. Cells of this type could undergo further mitotic divisions leading to the formation of mixoploid tissue. Ambush 25 EC like many other pesticides exerts a mitoclasical action of Allium cepa cells
