Development of spider mites population (Acarina: Tetranychidae) in relation to biochemical composition of plant
1989
Tomczyk, A. (Szkola Glowna Gospodarstwa Wiejskiego - Akademia Rolnicza, Warszawa (Poland))
The lowest fecundity and the lowest rate of population increase were observed when females were fed on chrysanthemum plants. Biochemical analysis of leaves indicated a low content of soluble sugars and proteins in chrysanthemum leaves as compared to bean and cucumber leaves. Changes in concentration of sugars, proteins and phenoles were also observed in infested leaves after short longer periods of spider mite feeding
