Electrolyte content and transpiration rate of poplar shoots infected by Ceratocystis fimbriata

In five poplar shoots of differing resistance to Ceratocystis fimbriata postinfectional increase in transpiration rate was stated. As a result of increased transpiration, the accumulation of electrolytes in the shoots, mainly in xylem elements, was found. The increase in transpiration as well as in electrolyte accumulation was higher the more susceptible to C. fimbriata was the poplar clone
