Cage culture of giant snakehead fish in Krasiew reservoir was commenced in 1986. There were 7 cages in 1987 but the number increased to 37 with 20 owners in 1988. The cages which are 6 m x 3 m x 2 m in size are made of wood and surrounded by bamboo. Fish are stocked at the rate of 7,000 fingerlings per cage or 200 fingerlines per cubic meter. They are fed with glass fish which is a low priced fish abundant in the reservoir and caught by light attraction, 5 kg of feed is provided in the first month of the rearing period which in gradually increased to 400 kg in the last month. The fish attain the marketable size of 0.7 - 1.3 kg in 9 - 10 months and can be sold at 25 bahts (1 USD) per kg. The income received by the sale of fish from a cage in about 50,000 - 125,000 Bahts per crop.
