Creation of root mass of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) seedlings in dependence on container type
1989
Ratknic, M. | Kitic, D. (Institut za sumarstvo i drvnu industriju, Beograd (Yugoslavia))
Study of root mass, root hair mass and number of root hairs of the 1st order was made on one-year old Scot pine seedlings, produced in three types of containers of hard plastics: "Jukosad", "Plantagrah I" and "G.O.R.A. 78". All seedlings were produced from seeds collected in the region of T. Uzice (Yugoslavia). After sowing, the containers were placed on a hard basis which had prevented penetration of plant root in the soil, enabling extraction of seedlings with undamaged root system. The analysis of variance (at the level of 1%) has shown the highest root mass and root hair mass by the seedlings grown in the container "PLANTAGRAH I". Significant differences were not found between the plants grown in the containers "G.O.R.A. 78" and Jukosad". In respect to the number of root hairs of the 1st order there were no significant differences between these three types of containers.
