The blood properties of the wels (Silurus glanis L.)

The paper describes the effect of sex upon the amount of haemoglobin, number of erythrocytes and their sedimentation rate. Sexually mature females have less haemoglobin and fewer erythrocytes but considerably higher sedimentation rate of erythrocytes than sexually mature males. Sex does not affect the number of leucocytes and thrombocytes nor the qualitative erythrocyte and leucocyte blood picture.
