The paper presents the results obtained by examining pathogenic effects of the parasite fungus Drechslera sorokiniana (Sacc.) Subram and Jaine upon maize and barley. The examined seedlings of maize inbred lines had a stronger disease resistance than their barley counterparts. The effects of the disease upon the biomass yield (fresh and dry) were examined and a high coefficient of correlation (r=0.94) was observed between the control and the treated plants. The growth of D. sorokiniana in pure culture was examined in relation to the culture media, environmental temperatures and addition of vitamin K (Biotin). Conidia were examined and described as well.
