The effect of some factors upon the yield of amize FAO Maturity Group 200 was investigated. The experiment was carried out on the chernozem soil type in Zemun Polje (Yugoslavia). The following factors were investigated: a) time of planting: V1 - May 11 (May 15, 1981), V2 - May 26, V3 - June 10, V4 - June 20 (June 22, 1981 and June 21, 1982), V5 - June 30, V6 - July 8 and V7 - July 15; b) hybrid: H1 - ZPTC 180, H2 - ZPTC 192, H3 - ZPTC 194 and H4 - ZPTC 196; c) density: G1 - 51,020 plants/ha, G2 - 71,428 plants/ha and G3 - 89,258 plants/ha. Results show that the investigated factors very significantly influenced some elements of yield and grain yield. The grain moisture content at harvest increased from the 1st to the last date of planting from 19.4 to 43.3% and the percentage of cob from 21.4 to 35.2% as an average for all years of investigation. Grain moisture content and percentage of cob for the investigated hybrids did not differ significantly. The obtained results of grain yield show a regular decrease in yield in planting after May 11. For the earliest date of planting the yield was 7.66 t/ha and if planting was July 15, the grain yield was 1.69 t/ha. The results clearly show that the investigated hybrids are not suitable for grain production if planting is performed at the end of June and in July. Of the investigated hybrids, the highest yielding hybrid was ZPTC 196(509 t/ha average). With regard to the effect of plant density on grain yield, results show an increase up to 89,528 plants/ha.
