During four consecutive years hay samples from five localities of different altitude above sea level in the region of Pozega (Yugoslavia) were examined for their mineral content. Two samples were taken from two different farms at each locality totalling 40 samples to be examined. During the four years the content of Ca ranged from 2.96 to 13.95 (average: 8,19 k/kg); P 0.94 - 3.74 (average: 1.91 g/kg); Mg 1.26 - 2.68 (average: 1,80 g/kg); Na 1.15 - 1.91 (average: 1.46 g/kg); and K 11.39 - 19.54 (average: 15.16 g/kg). The results indicate that the amount of manganese and natrium in hay from the region of Pozega in within the limits reported in literature; phosphorus and potassium are below and calcium above the limits set for normal range. Notwithstanding varying contents of individual macroelements, no rule to such variations could be set either time - or localitywise.
