Banana potential realised [Barbados]

This article explains how Barbadian farmers recognised the need to increase production and yields per acre of banana. The success of Plantations Trading Company Limited, Barbados in introducing tissue culture vitropic bananas and plantains to local growers is mentioned. Grand Maine, the most productive of the cavendish group was the introduced variety. Increase in yield of plantains by 30 percent by sleeving the bunch is reported.
