Screening and evaluation of different crops in respect of quality characteristics [in Bangladesh]

The mutants G-527, exotic germplasm G-329 and G-331 and released varieties of chickpea "Hyprosola" and "Nabin" were analyzed for chlorophyll content in the leaf and protein content in the seed. Chlorophyll content ranged from 2.25 to 2.86 mg/g, protein content from 20.7 to 24.5% and 100-seed weight from 5.4 to 18.3 g. Seed-yield ranged from 480.0 to 1009.0 kg/ha "Hyprosola" showed the highest amount of chlorophyll content and G-331 showed the lowest. The highest protein content was found in G-523 and the lowest in "Nabin". The highest 100-seed weight was found in G-329 and the lowest in G-527. Correlation studies failed to establish any significant relation among the characters.
