Reaction of potato varieties to potato leaf roll virus (Plrv) and potato virus y (PVY) [Bangladesh]

Six potato varieties viz. Cardinal, Diamant, Multa, Patrones, Kufri sindhuri and K. lalima were exposed to PLRV and PVY to assess their reactions in Bangladesh conditions. Sources of infection were provided by planting predetermined PLRV and PVY infected tubers. Considerable variations among the varieties were found in respect of tolerance to PLRV and PVY. In general the incidence of PLRV was higher (16.11%). The minimum infection of PLRV was in K. Sindhuri (4.2%) and that of PVY in Diamant (3.9%).
