[Ripening handling based on cluster reduction and girdling on Vitis vinifera L. cultivar Ribier]
1991
Olmedo O, Jose
During 1989-1990 season, it was made a vineyard testing on the Ribier cv., 12 years old, located in Buin, about 35 kilometers South of Santiago. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of two girdling modalities made at early ripeness stage, in grapevine plants with different number of clusters. Girdlings to the trunk and branches were practiced, and three yield levels which were of 60, 50 and 40 clusters per plant. A complete randomized block design with twelve replications was used. Not only the girdling but also the cluster reduction didn't have an effect on the vegetative and yield parameters. Both girdling types, without considering cluster reduction produced an increase on the soluble solids of the must, at harvest date
