A plot trial was conducted on the experimental plot at Sluknov to compare the effect of chemical means, growing of resistant potato varieties and other cultural practices on population density of Globodera rostochiensis in the soil. The highest effectiveness was demonstrated by soil fumigants (the preparations Di Trapex, Basamid gr., Allyspol 75 EC, Telone II, Nematin), urea, calcium cyanamide, Nitrosan 25, and prematurely harvested susceptible cross of potato HR 23/495 with subsequent sowing of mustard seed. Of the subsequent crops after chemical sanitation, the Lada - resistant potato variety was found to be more effective than maize and black fallow. It is recommended to intensify the direct control of the pests, now based on the use of resistant potato varieties, dazomet, metam sodium and urea. An assortement of utilizable means should be extended by calcium cyanamide and some other soil fumigants (AITK, Telone II, Di Trapex). A rate of urea may be reduced from 1-1.5 kg up to 0.5 kg per m2 in weakly contaminated plots.
